The Hot Air Balloon Experiment

I was interested to find to see if hot air balloons could be a different type of everyday transportation and how the temperature would affect its movement. My hypothesis was that in cold weather the hot air balloon would elevate the fastest, making a great transportation vehicle. I made four different hot air balloons to test at different times of the day to see how the different types of temperatures affect its movement. I found out that my hypothesis was was correct because the cold weather allows the hot air balloon to rise at a faster rate than when the weather was warmer. This would potentially make it a good option for transportation in cooler climates or at cooler times of the year.

  1. This is an original type experiment but seems to have an element of danger to it just like real hot air ballooning! Glad you had supervision with dad and mom. Stay curious!
