How does the presences of a labellum affect the foraging behaviour and landing success of a bumble bee? Bees are monitored to determine if they are preferentially locating flowers with labellum or if their actions are more random. It was concluded that the assumptions on the purpose of the labellum for landing or visual cues are not applicable. Potentially evolved not for bees, or with another purpose. Bees are not naturally great at landing, perhaps need specific learning period or some other reason.
