What is your project about? My project is about how different genres of music affect your reading speed and how big or small the difference would be. The genres of music that I used for this project were pop, heavy metal, electric, hip-hop, jazz, k-pop, rock, classical, and no music at all. Why did you choose this project? I did this project because I was interested in how the different genres of music could affect something like your reading speed. I ended up choosing reading speed because I had been wanting to read more efficiently in a funner or easier way that wouldn't be hard to do. I wanted to do the genres of music because I had known that things like music could affect certain things and with music being the easiest to use I chose that. What was your result/overall conclusion? My results were that heavy metal took the longest time 8:26, 8:18, and 8:07. The shortest time was classical music with the times 5:23, 5:28, and 5:47. Which overall meant that heavy metal music is the worst music to listen to while reading and that classical music is the best one to listen to while reading. Why is your project important? My project is important because some people want to read faster but find it hard to do so they might want an easier way to read faster without putting in too much effort and time. With music being an easy to get resource they might turn to it wondering if it could help shorten their times. Or some people who already listen to music while reading books might want to know which genres would be best.

  1. Nice consideration of controlled variables and ideas for future extension of your project! It could be interesting to see what you’d find if you tested this on other people as well! Great work!
