How does the color of light affect how plants grow?

Plants and the Environment

What is your project about? My project is about how the color of light will affect how plants grow. I will prove that when the color of light hits the plant for 2 hours, it will grow in different ways. Why did you choose this project? I love plants so I chose this project to see if they would grow even bigger and prettier than they are now. And to try something new. What was your result/overall conclusion? My result was proved because the color of light made them grow tall, short, skinny, or wide. The blue light was skinnier and taller while the red plant was short and wide. Why is your project important? So that people can see how the color of light affects how plants grow in different ways. And to see what I can do better next time.

  1. Plants are an important part of earth and a part of the chain of living things. How they grow and what sort of environment plants require helps us realize how we change the environment, will in turn change how plants grow and in turn how the cycle of living organisms survive on earth.

  2. This project was interesting to see how the light affected the plant growth! I think the concept and idea is good, and I encourage you to think about other controls and replication. You controlled the watering and planting well, but what type of light do plants normally grow in? Sunlight! How would a plant grown in normal sunlight conditions differ from plants in the blue light or red light? Also, you only had one plant in each condition, would these results be consistent if multiple plants were grown under each light condition, and the average plant growth was calculated? Overall, good job, and think of ways you can provide even more evidence that supports your hypothesis.
