Over 14,000 tons of sunscreen containing harmful chemical ingredients enter the ocean every year, affecting both the skin and environment. For these reasons, novel sunscreen was conducted using eco-friendly ingredients to be used as a safer alternative to protect both marine life and our skin from UVA and UVB radiation.

  1. Congratulations on continuing to investigate a novel bio-sunscreen, with some interesting chemical properties!

  2. Your project aims to use a natural source (Chlorella vulgaris) as an alternative to synthetic sunscreens. This project can reduce the environmental impacts and reduce human harm in a very popular consumer good, sunscreen. I particularly enjoyed the process of engineering the C. vulgaris extract into a useable balm by the addition of other natural oils.
