Bioplastics, the sequel to plastics

The Question I am trying to answer is similar to the one I had in 5th grade, “Does bioplastic actually biodegrade”. I want to answer this because it currently seems like bioplastic will solve the plastic problem. I just want to make sure they aren't lying. Especially considering companies will in fact lie to get people to buy their product. To do the experiment, I ordered different types of bioplastic from amazon and put each kind in a bucket. The buckets had compost and soil, saltwater, or general garbage in them. The compost buckets tested if it would biodegrade in general, the saltwater was to mimic the ocean, and the garbage was to mimic a landfill. Every week or so I would check and see changes.
