What is your project about? My project is about what genre of music helps a kid with sensory processing disorder (SPD) fall asleep quicker based on different genres of music played. Why did you choose this project? I chose this project because my brother, who was diagnosed with SPD, falls asleep every night to music. Some nights, my brother falls asleep quicker. Other nights, it takes him longer to fall asleep. I noticed that he was listening to different genres of music like country and rock. It made me very curious. So I decided to test whether or not the genre of music has an effect on how long it takes him to fall asleep. What was your result/overall conclusion? Based on the results, I could not conclude that a particular genre of music helps a child with SPD fall asleep quicker. However, it did show that it takes a kid with SPD longest when listening to rock music. Why is your project important? Some children that suffer from SPD like to fall asleep by listening to music, read a book, and play with toys in bed. My project is important because it could help children with SPD improve their sleep quality and also well-being (mental health).
