A Proficient PesticidePlants and the Environment
- Alexandria Vaughn
What is your project about? My project is about developing a better and more eco-friendly pesticide that is not harmful to bees and other pollinators. Why did you choose this project? I chose this project because at one point I had a pumpkin farm that was destroyed by pests and I wanted to better protect my plants in the future by developing a pesticide that can not deter unwanted creatures but also not be harmful to pollinators. What was your result/overall conclusion? My results indicated that you may not need pesticides to deter pests unless there is evidence that shows that you must. Also, if in the position of not being threatened by pests or hidden from view/scent of the pests you may not need to utilize pesticides. Also, effective pesticides are hard to make. Why is your project important? My project is important because it shows that farmers may not have to be dependent on unnatural pesticides if put in the correct environment and that pollinators may also be deterred by pesticides causing less plant/food production.
