"This project tests combinations of commonplace desert landscaping soil to maximize water absorption and retention. This project is incredibly relevant in arid locations, such as Arizona, to trap and utilize runoff from monsoons. The results showed that a mixture of pea gravel and clay topsoil held the most water at the end of the trial and delayed full saturation for the longest period of time. This project also provided a relatively inexpensive method to trap runoff in your backyard for vegetation to use. "
