"The purpose of this experiment was to find out which of our favorite cacti could live the longest during a drought. This experiment is very beneficial to make sure you buy a cactus that is less likely to die if you forget to water it. Our experiment gives us new information about which type (out of 3) cacti can live the longest without water. Our project question was “How long can different types of cacti live without water?” To try this experiment yourself, there are procedures you will need to follow. Gather your cacti. Next, you will need to record your observations of the cacti’s appearance every day without watering them. Create a scale or ranking to compare the appearance of the cacti. Lastly, you will need to record which cacti appeared healthiest without water. The results of this experiment did not support our hypothesis. We originally said that the barrel cactus would last the longest during a drought. Our results showed that the barrel cactus had a lower hydration level than the moon cactus. Something we would have like to change about this experiment is to have more cacti to experiment with and have more time for each trial. Next time you go to buy plant, make sure to buy a Moon cactus, because it can live the longest without water. Plants are are a lot like humans and need water to survive so make sure to water your plants! Keywords: cactus, cacti, succulent, plants, drought, water, conservation, desert, landscaping "
