How Does a Computer Decide What to do Next?

"For my project, I am designing and building a simple computer to understand how it works. I chose this project because I knew that I wanted to do something with engineering this year. After completing this project, I learned a lot about computers. I learned how they store information in memory, do what they're told, and how they decide what to do next. A computer follows the code it is given and the computer saves what it did in its memory. The code then tells the hardware what to do with input and how to get the desired output. This project is important because now that computers are everywhere in our day to day lives, it's important that we know how to use them and how to harness their full potential."
